You can apply for free school meals online through Bromley’s application form. Bromley also says you only need to apply if your child does not already have current free school meals eligibility, and if they attend one of a few named schools or a school outside Bromley, the process is different.
| What to do | Details | Link |
|---|---|---|
| Apply for free school meals | Complete the new application form if your child was not in receipt of free school meals on 1 April 2018, or if they do not already have current eligibility | Free school meals application form |
| Apply direct to the school | Do this if your child attends Coopers School, Harris Academy Beckenham, Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley, or La Fontaine Academy | No council link given |
| Apply if your child attends school outside Bromley | Apply to the local authority where the school is based | No Bromley council link given |
Bromley says applications are usually checked within 15 working days, though it can take longer in busier periods. If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 at a Bromley maintained primary, infant or junior school, they automatically get universal infant free school meals, so you do not need to apply for those.
