If you have extra recycling that won’t fit in your bin, Durham says to put it in a clear or see-through plastic bag and leave it next to your recycling bin. It should be loose or in a clear bag — not in a black sack or carrier bag.

If you’re sorting waste generally, Durham also says to keep anything you’re unsure about out of the recycling bin and put it in your rubbish bin instead.
