Hounslow’s council housing application is done online in two stages: first the pre-qualification questionnaire, then the main application if you’re eligible. You can start here: Start your application for council housing.
| Stage | What happens | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-qualification questionnaire | Complete this online to check if you’re eligible | If you don’t meet the general criteria but think you qualify for an exception, you need to contact the council |
| Main application | Complete this online after eligibility is confirmed | You must finish it within 30 days of the council sending you the link |
| Medical assessment form | Complete online if you or someone on the application has a medical condition or disability | You’ll be asked for extra medical details |
| Assessment after applying | The council reviews your application and emails you within 60 working days | You may be asked for more documents and information |
| Who can apply | Main criteria |
|---|---|
| Age | 18 or over |
| Right to live in the UK | You must have a right to live in the UK and be entitled to claim public funds |
| Residence in Hounslow | You must currently live in Hounslow and have lived there continuously for the last five years, or for five years out of the last seven years |
| Income and savings | Household income must not be over £50,000 a year, and household savings must not be over £50,000 |
