You can apply for a postal vote online or by paper, and Newham asks you to include your date of birth, National Insurance number and signature. If you’re applying by paper, you can send the form by email or post it to Electoral Services.

A postal vote can be for one election, a type of election, or all elections you’re eligible for, and Newham says you’ll need to reapply every three years. If you want ballot papers sent somewhere other than your registered address, you’ll need to give a reason.
