The quickest way is to check the SEPA Register of Waste Carriers. Perth & Kinross also advises asking the contractor to show you their certificate of registration, or a certified copy, which will show when the registration expires.

It’s also worth asking for a receipt that shows what was collected, the date, and where the waste is going. If they can’t provide that information, Perth & Kinross says not to let them take your waste.
