If your child’s school place has been refused, Sandwell says you have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel, as long as you applied for the school and were refused. You can lodge the appeal online, or download the form and post it in.

A valid appeal needs clear reasons why your child should attend the preferred school, plus any supporting evidence you want the panel to consider. Sandwell says you should submit supporting evidence no later than 1 week before the hearing, and the appeal form, school, and School Admissions will see your information.
If the appeal is refused, you usually cannot appeal again for the same school and same academic year unless there are exceptional circumstances.
