Sandwell collects different bins on different cycles: food waste every week, general household waste every two weeks, mixed dry recycling every two weeks, and garden waste fortnightly if you subscribe. Put your bins out by 5.30am on your collection day, and if you can’t keep them on your property boundary, they should not go on the highway earlier than 18:30 the evening before collection.
| Bin/service | Collection frequency | When to put it out |
|---|---|---|
| Food waste | Weekly | By 5.30am on collection day |
| General household waste / non-recycling bin | Every two weeks | By 5.30am on collection day |
| Mixed dry recycling / blue lid recycling | Every two weeks | By 5.30am on collection day |
| Garden waste | Fortnightly, subscription only; suspended during winter months | By 5.30am on collection day |
You can check your exact bin day using your house number and postcode via Sandwell’s bin day checker: check your bin day. Make sure lids are closed and all rubbish is inside the bin; Sandwell says it won’t take bags or waste left beside the bin.
