If you’ve moved house, Sandwell asks you to tell them as soon as possible using the online change of address form. If your name has changed, the main published guidance here is for elections: register to vote in your new name, and make sure your photo ID matches the name you’re registered with.
| Situation | What Sandwell says to do | Link |
|---|---|---|
| Moved house | Complete the “Tell us you are moving house” online form. If you’re getting Housing Benefit or Council Tax Reduction, fill in the relevant part so your benefits can be updated. If someone else helps manage your affairs, a new Third Party Authorisation form is needed at your new address. | Tell us you are moving house |
| Changed your name | If you change your name when you marry, you should register to vote in your new name. If your ID name is different from the name you’re registered with, you may need extra evidence of the name change, such as a marriage or civil partnership certificate. | Register to vote |
If the move is more than 28 days ahead of today’s date, Sandwell says not to use the online move forms yet. They also note that Council Tax amendments are normally actioned and enquiries responded to within 10 weeks.
