You can apply for Housing Benefit online using Scottish Borders Council’s benefits form. The form will ask for evidence of your income and savings, and the council may ask for extra details if you’re self-employed, a taxi driver, or pay childcare costs.

Scottish Borders says you should only make a new Housing Benefit application if you’re not eligible for Universal Credit and meet the qualifying age/circumstance rules. If you’re unsure which benefit applies, the council’s Housing Benefit page explains that too.
