To make a placing request for a school outwith your catchment area, Scottish Borders asks you to use the online school enrolment form and complete the placement request section as part of that application. If you’re applying for a primary or secondary school outside your catchment school, this is the route to use.
| What to do | Details |
|---|---|
| Apply | Use the online school enrolment form |
| What to include | Complete the placement request section in the application |
| Who should use it | All pupils applying to a school other than their catchment school |
| Extra note for P7 pupils | Current P7 pupils applying for a secondary place outwith catchment must also use this form |
| If your child is school-leaving age | They can make their own placing request |
| After you apply | The catchment/preferred school will contact you with next steps |
| Transport | If your child attends a school outwith your catchment area, you must arrange transport yourself |
Scottish Borders says they will usually agree to placing requests where possible, but they can be refused if there aren’t enough places. If you want more help with the application, the school can advise further.
