If you’re living overseas, Swindon’s published birth registration guidance doesn’t spell out a special overseas process. It does say that if the usual registration route isn’t possible, you should contact a registrar and they can explain an alternative procedure.
| Situation | What Swindon says to do |
|---|---|
| Parents are married | Either parent may register the birth |
| Parents are not married and want the father’s details included | Both parents must attend the office together |
| If both parents cannot attend together | Contact a registrar so an alternative procedure can be explained |
| If the father’s details are not entered at registration | There are special procedures to add them later if needed |
For a birth registration, Swindon also says the mother’s address, the baby’s details, and the parents’ names and places of birth may be needed. The relevant page is Register a birth.
