You can check your council tax band by looking it up with the Valuation Office Agency, which Broxbourne says is the body that determines property bands. If you disagree with the band, you can appeal to the Valuation Tribunal Service.

Broxbourne also notes that the band is based on the property’s assumed market value on 1 April 1991, and bands run from A to H. If you want to deal with your council tax account after you’ve checked the band, you can also register for Council Tax.
