If you’re dealing with noise from a neighbour or other antisocial noise, East Lothian Council says to contact the Antisocial Behaviour team during normal working hours. Outwith office hours, domestic noise complaints are handled by the night-time noise response with Police Scotland support, and commercial noise can also be investigated as a nuisance.
| Situation | What to do | Contact / link |
|---|---|---|
| Noise from a neighbour or other antisocial noise in normal working hours | Contact the council’s antisocial behaviour helpline | Call 01875 824307 or use Report antisocial behaviour |
| Domestic noise outwith office hours, such as noisy parties, DIY or noisy neighbours | Contact the police / night-time noise response | Call 101 |
| Noise from commercial premises, such as pubs or hotels | Report it to the council to investigate possible statutory nuisance or licensing issues | Report antisocial noise |
East Lothian also asks you to tell them the source of the noise, how often it happens, and how it affects you. If it’s a neighbour issue, keeping a dated log of incidents can help.
