Here’s the short version: Folkestone & Hythe asks you to put your bins out by 7am on collection day and bring them back in as soon as possible after collection. The type of bin you use depends on the waste stream.
| Waste type | Bin to put out | Collection timing / notes |
|---|---|---|
| Household refuse | Green lid bin (180 litre) | Put out by 7am on collection day |
| Dry recycling | Purple lid bin (240 litre) | Put out by 7am on collection day; keep recycling loose and food-free |
| Paper & card recycling | Black box | Put out by 7am on collection day; paper and card go here, not in the purple-lidded bin |
| Food waste | Green caddy (23 litre external kerbside caddy) | Put out by 7am on collection day; this is the one collected and emptied weekly |
| Garden waste | Brown lid bin (180 litre garden waste bin) | Collected every two weeks; put it on the boundary of your property by 7.00am on the specified day |
A couple of useful points: council advice says to place recycling or waste out either first thing in the morning before 7am or as late as possible the night before, and to take bins back onto your property after collection. If you want, I can also pull together the fees for extra bins or the garden waste rules.
