You apply for a council house by joining Gravesham’s Housing Register online. You’ll need to complete the application form, then provide evidence of your circumstances before your application can be assessed.
| What you need to do | Details |
|---|---|
| Apply online | Apply to get on the Housing Register |
| Check eligibility | You must usually be over 16, have a right to live in the UK, and either have family/employment links to the borough, a local connection, or a housing need listed in Gravesham’s allocations policy |
| Provide details | National Insurance numbers for everyone over 16, all addresses you’ve lived at in the last six years, and landlord contact details where applicable |
| Upload evidence | Proof of identity, proof of address, proof of children, proof of income, and proof of home ownership if relevant |
| If you can’t upload evidence straight away | You can return later, but Gravesham won’t assess the application until all supporting documents are received |
| Send evidence separately | You can take originals or copies to the Gateway at the Civic Centre, or email them to allocations@gravesham.gov.uk |
Gravesham says you’ll usually be placed on a waiting list, and being on the register doesn’t guarantee a property. If you don’t meet the criteria, the council suggests private renting may be the better option.
