High Peak’s usual setup is a set of three bins: brown for recycling, green-lidded for food and garden waste, and black for general rubbish. On collection day, bins need to be out by 6am.
| Bin | What goes in it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Brown bin | Glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, food tins, drink cans, foil and aerosols, cartons, paper, cardboard | Leave recycling loose; plastic bags and bin liners aren’t accepted. |
| Green-lidded bin | Food waste and garden plant waste | Keep using it for cooked and uncooked food waste, including peelings and bones. |
| Black bin | General rubbish | Waste should be put in the wheeled bin provided by High Peak. |
If your property is not suitable for wheeled bins, High Peak uses sacks for rubbish, a hessian bag for recycling, compostable bags for garden plant waste, and an outdoor caddy for food waste. Bins and bags should be put out in line with your normal collection day, and the online bin checker has any route changes or festive-period updates.
