Mansfield uses four main bins for household waste, and each one goes out at the same time: by 6am on your collection day, then back in by 12 noon the following day. The exact day depends on your bin day lookup, and garden waste collections are fortnightly.
| Bin | What goes in it | Collection pattern | Put out / take in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green bin | General, non-recyclable waste | Every fortnight | Put out by 6am on collection day; remove by 12 noon the following day |
| Blue bin | Mixed dry recycling | Every fortnight | Put out by 6am on collection day; remove within 24 hours |
| Brown bin | Garden waste such as grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves, small branches and twigs, plants, weeds, cut flowers | Fortnightly garden waste service | Put out by 6am on collection day; remove by 12 noon the following day |
| Glass recycling bin | Clean, empty glass bottles and jars | Collection day may be different to green and blue bins | Put out by 6am on collection day |
A couple of practical points: Mansfield asks that bins are clearly presented kerbside on the pavement, and brown bins should be clearly marked with your house number. If you’re unsure of your collection day, you can check it online using the council’s bin day lookup.
