To apply for a council house in Sandwell, you first need to join the housing register through the MySandwell portal. Once your Housing Registration form is submitted, Sandwell’s Housing Solutions Team processes it and, if you’re eligible, you can then bid for properties through the choice-based lettings system.
| Step | What to do | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Join the housing register | You must be aged 18 or over, or 16 or 17 in exceptional circumstances, and be living in the UK legally. |
| 2 | Submit your Housing Registration form through MySandwell | Your MySandwell account may show as closed after submission because the application transfers to the Housing Solutions Team. |
| 3 | Wait for processing | Sandwell says processing can currently take up to 12 weeks. |
| 4 | Bid for available properties | Once registered and if you meet the criteria, you can bid for up to three properties each week. |
If you need help with the form or more information, Sandwell says you can call 0121 368 1166 or visit local teams. If you’re unable to access the service yourself, they can also arrange support such as home visits.
