If you’ve already received a poll card, or you voted at the same address in the last election, Sandwell says you usually don’t need to register again. If you want to check whether you’re on the electoral register, the practical clue is whether you’ve had that poll card.
| What to look for | What it means |
|---|---|
| You’ve received a poll card | You’re likely already registered, so you don’t need to register again unless you’ve moved house or changed your name. |
| You voted while living at the same address at the last election | You don’t need to register again. |
| You’ve moved house since you last voted | You must register at your new address. |
| You haven’t received a poll card and aren’t sure you’re registered | Sandwell’s page doesn’t give a direct “check your registration” tool, but it says you can register online and it only takes five minutes. |
You’ll need your National Insurance number and date of birth if you do register. You can register to vote online.
