Before St Helens can pay Housing Benefit, you need to send in proof of who you are, who lives in your household, what money and savings you have, and what rent you pay. If you have a partner, the same evidence is needed for them too.
| Evidence needed | What St Helens asks for |
|---|---|
| Identity | Proof of your identity, and your partner’s identity if you have one |
| National Insurance number | Proof of your National Insurance number, and your partner’s too if applicable |
| Income | Proof of all income you and your partner receive |
| Other household members’ income | Proof of all income for anyone else who lives with you, including children, grown-up sons or daughters, or other relatives/friends |
| Savings and capital | Proof of any savings, investments, stocks, shares or other capital held by you, your partner or your children, including bank and building society accounts |
| Rent | Proof of your rent |
St Helens’ benefits privacy notice also says it may hold details of your landlord and tenancy agreement, bank account details, and statements or evidence from your landlord or other professionals if needed.
