If there was a bin tag left on your bin, Coventry uses it to tell you why it wasn’t emptied. The tag usually means the bin contained the wrong items, was too heavy, had items stuck inside, wasn’t put out correctly, or was damaged.
| What the tag might mean | What you should do |
|---|---|
| Wrong items in the bin | Remove the unauthorised items before the next collection |
| Bin too heavy or overfilled | Take out some waste so it can be safely collected |
| Items stuck or frozen inside | Loosen or remove them |
| Bin wasn’t out at the right time/day | Put it out by 7am on your scheduled collection day |
| Bin was damaged | Request a replacement |
| Bin wasn’t presented correctly | Put it outside your property where crews can safely access it, with handles facing the road |
Coventry says crews won’t return to empty it until your next scheduled collection, so you should put the bin back on your property and present it again then. If it’s a brown-lidded bin or recycling bin, the council also says a tag should be checked for the reason the collection was missed.
