You apply for a residents’ or priority parking permit online through City of Edinburgh Council’s NSL Apply service. You’ll need to create an online account first, then upload proof of vehicle ownership and evidence that you live at your address.
| Step | What to do | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Go to the online application service | Apply for a residents' or priority parking permit |
| 2 | Create an online account | You need an account before you can make an application |
| 3 | Upload your documents | Proof of vehicle ownership is required; you may also need proof of address |
| 4 | Complete the application | The council says it usually takes no longer than 15 minutes |
| 5 | Wait for approval | You’ll get an email when the application is received and another when the permit is active |
| 6 | Don’t park until it’s active | Your permit must show as active on your account before you use it |
You may need items such as a lease, utility bill, bank or mortgage statement, Council Tax bill or medical card dated within the last three months, plus your V5C. If you have any problems, Edinburgh says to email residentsparking@edinburgh.gov.uk.
