how do i report a missed bin collection
The easiest way to report a missed bin in Edinburgh is to use the council’s online form. Before you submit it, Edinburgh asks you to check the collection wasn’t delayed, and to make sure the bin was out correctly and accessible.
| What to do | Details | Link |
|---|---|---|
| Check first | Make sure there are no delays to kerbside collections, your bin was out on the right day, the lid was fully closed, it wasn’t contaminated, and access wasn’t blocked. | bin delays page |
| Report the missed bin | If none of those issues apply, report it online and leave the bin out for collection. Edinburgh says it will come back within two working days. | Report a missed bin |
| Get in touch another way | The Waste and Cleansing service also points people to its online forms as the quickest and easiest option. | Contact the Waste and Cleansing service |
Edinburgh also says you can report a missed collection from 10pm on the day of collection, and up to three working days after it was due. If the bin was missed because of severe weather, you may not need to report it unless your bin is the only one not collected on the street.
