If the noise is from a neighbour, Mansfield says to try speaking to them first and explaining the problem. If that doesn’t work, you can send a sample noise letter or record the noise using The Noise App.
| What to do | Details |
|---|---|
| First step | Approach your neighbour if possible and explain that their noise is disturbing you. |
| If that doesn’t work | Use the sample noise letter to contact them. |
| Next step | Record the noise with The Noise App and send it to Mansfield District Council. |
| When it can be investigated | The noise must be more than just annoying — it has to interfere with the normal, reasonable use of your property. |
| If it’s actually ASB | Report it as antisocial behaviour if it involves things like threats, drugs, drunken or rowdy behaviour. |
Mansfield also notes that ordinary day-to-day neighbour noise can’t usually be acted on, so the council will only investigate if it may amount to a nuisance.
