Oldham asks you to try talking to the person or business causing the noise first, or send a note or letter if that feels better. If that doesn’t work, complete a noise nuisance diary and then report it to the Environmental Health Team; for alarms, you can email envhealth@oldham.gov.uk directly and don’t need the diary.

Oldham says an officer from the Environmental Health Team will contact you within 14 working days after you report it. The council also notes it can only investigate noises that are not part of normal daily living, and it won’t investigate things like vacuum cleaners, moving furniture, or children playing.
