To apply for a council house in Perth and Kinross, you need to go through the Common Housing Register. West Lothian’s usual council housing process doesn’t apply here, so I’m sticking to Perth and Kinross Council’s route.
| Step | What to do | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Get housing advice first | Perth and Kinross will invite you to use the Housing Options Self-Assessment (HOSA) and may offer an enhanced housing options interview to discuss your situation. |
| 2 | Contact the Housing Options Team | Call 01738 476000 (option 3) or email HousingOptions@pkc.gov.uk. If you have an urgent need for rehousing, you can also phone 01738 476000 during normal office hours. |
| 3 | Complete an application | If social housing is the right option, staff will help you fill out a housing application form and register you on the Common Housing Register (CHR). |
| 4 | Provide supporting evidence | Your application will not go live until all required information is provided, such as proof of identity and birth certificates. |
| 5 | Keep it updated | Tell the council straight away about any change in your circumstances, like a new baby or a change of address. |

If you need help completing the form, Perth and Kinross Council says staff can assist you in person at Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth, or at a Locality Housing Office.
