You may be able to join Runnymede’s housing register, but only if you’re eligible under the council’s rules. Runnymede says not everyone can join, and you’ll need to show a local connection to the borough.
| Eligibility route | What Runnymede says |
|---|---|
| Immigration status | A person subject to immigration control or a person from abroad may not be eligible and may not be able to join the housing register. |
| Local connection: living in Runnymede | You or a permanent member of your household must live in Runnymede and have done so for the past three consecutive years. |
| Local connection: working in Runnymede | You or a permanent member of your household must be currently employed within Runnymede and have been for the past twelve consecutive months. |
| Local connection: self-employment in Runnymede | You or a permanent member of your household must have been in continuous self-employment for the past twelve consecutive months, where the work is within Runnymede. |
| Exceptional health/welfare reason | You or a permanent member of your household must have a unique/exceptional health or welfare reason to live in Runnymede, and have an immediate relative living in Runnymede who has lived there for the past ten consecutive years. The need must be based on a specific health service only available in Runnymede and not accessible elsewhere. |
Runnymede also says documentary evidence from the health professionals supporting you will need to be provided for that exceptional health/welfare route, and family support alone will not usually count. You can start an application online here: Join the Runnymede housing register.
