Council tax bands themselves are the same structure everywhere in Bolton: properties are put into bands A to H based on their 1 April 1991 market value. What changes by area is the amount charged in each band.
| Area | Band A charge | Band D charge | Band H charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bolton | £1,594.87 | £2,392.33 | £4,784.66 |
| Blackrod | £1,622.33 | £2,433.52 | £4,867.04 |
| Horwich | £1,621.86 | £2,432.81 | £4,865.62 |
| Westhoughton | £1,609.64 | £2,414.48 | £4,828.96 |
So the banding system is the same, but Bolton, Blackrod, Horwich and Westhoughton all have different council tax charges. If you live in Blackrod, Horwich or Westhoughton, there’s also an extra parish precept added to the bill.
