If Preston has genuinely missed your bin, you should report it online after 4pm on the collection day, and you need to do that within two days. If the bin wasn’t put out on time, or it was missed for one of the common reasons below, it will usually go on the next collection day instead.
| What to check first | Preston guidance |
|---|---|
| Bin not out in time | Make sure it was out by 7am on collection day |
| Wrong location | Leave it at the usual collection point / kerbside edge of your property |
| Frozen contents | You can still report it, but the crew won’t return until the weather improves |
| Heavy / oops sticker | Follow the sticker guidance and it should be collected on the next scheduled day |
| Garden waste | Brown bins are only emptied if the garden waste subscription has been paid and the permit is displayed |
| New build / shared road / private drive | You may need to leave bins at a collection point, depending on the site arrangements |
If it really was missed, Preston aims to empty it within two working days, though that can’t be guaranteed. You can report it here: Report a missed bin (or pink bag) collection.
